A Christmastime Question

Jesus is "GOD WITH US".

A Christmastime Question
Pastor Larry Hall

Matthew 1:18-25

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

A Christmastime Question

Jesus is - GOD WITH US, verses 22-23

“The Word became flesh and blood and moved into our neighborhood.” -John 1:14

Hebrews 1:1-2

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

That voice spoke clearly from a cattle stall. "I am with you!!!"

Are WE with God?

How about a God who is helplessly dependent on us to see that his mission is fulfilled?  Have you ever thought of God this way?  The baby is a sign that it's so!

Matthew 1:24

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

John 14:15

“If you love me, keep my commands.

James 2:14; 17

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? ... In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

"Take away our stubborn self-will, for we know that in your will alone is our peace.  We seek that peace."
-Peter Marshall
